The Skiddaw range from Portinscale(ish)

Somehow ended up in the Crafty Baa in Keswick early this evening. How did that happen. Enjoyed a Stonehaven IPA and a Crafty Pale Ale while Susan sampled a couple of alcohol free beers, Leffé Blonde and Punk IPA as recommended by Saga, she preferred the Leffé.

This just one of the pure joys of being here. We were planning to visit Kendal to investigate houses and the town just to see what we felt about the place. We could buy in Kendal tomorrow if we wanted but Cockermouth is where we want to be.

In the end we were just too late for the three hour round trip so settled sending off that letter to the Estate Agent and having lunch then setting off for Keswick for an amble around through the town and out to Lingholm via Portinscale. Just a pleasant afternoon stroll that somehow ended up at the Crafty Baa.

I’m wearing a continuous glucose monitor for the next 15 days to monitor blood sugars again ahead of a conversation with the diabetic nurse in a couple of weeks time. Despite my low carb diet and exercise my blood sugars keep rising. Having said that, the beer this evening hardly caused a spike.

As always when I wear a monitor, I use it to try out different foods and see what effect they have. Tonight’s sweet potatoes and carrot mash, broccoli and many vegetable omelette had little effect. Chocolate (70-80%) later might.
