A view from Jeanneb

Two sides of the moor

A few jobs this morning. We had some bags of clothes, brought back from Bath on our last visit, to take to Otley for John’s cousins’ children. On our way back we called in at friend M and rose54 ‘s house in Bingley to water their plants. Also grabbed some sandwiches from M&S to have after church tomorrow for a quick lunch before we head S West again.

We crossed Bingley Moor and there are lots of patches of heather blooming but as ever there is nowhere to stop the car so we returned over Baildon Moor. From a distance it looks predominantly green from the masses of bracken but there are some patches of heather amongst the yellowing grass.

As I got out of the car I immediately spotted the line of horses on the horizon. By the time I’d sorted my phone they were just starting to turn away. Not an unusual sight up here, across on Bingley Moor, Harvey Smith and his family have long had a farm and horse training stable. You sometimes have to stop to let them across the road onto gallops between the two moors. What looks a bit strange is that they are riding between the greens here on Baildon Golf Club. To the left of them you can see a flag and to the right a golfer! A bit far away with only the phone to take a photograph

On the other side is my patch of heather. What you can’t see is how strong the wind was. The poor little Rowan just below the horizon was struggling to stay upright as was I!

Since we got back I’ve put some rugs I’d washed out to dry and have been making a casserole to take with us.
I’m sitting now as I’ve re done my toe nails so need to stay still for a while.
