Seeing red again
Today was mostly about waiting. Waiting for the kettle to boil a foot dunking's worth of water so that I could make up saline for bathing. Waiting for the grot on my toe to dissolve away, while I sat in the sunshine. Waiting for the kettle to reboil for endless cups of tea.
Waiting for Mum and Dad to pick me up for a trip into town for an evening flypast of The Red Arrows over the Edinburgh Military Tattoo – and for us to hang around with about two hundred others on a windy Blackford Hill waiting for the spectacle. We all knew they were coming when a little boy shouted, "they're coming!" and sure enough, there they were in standard "Big Battle" formation – the one that looks like a skein of geese, and with their red, white and blue smoke trails going. I took quite a few photos on full zoom but I liked this one where you can see the castle and the esplanade, even if you can't see as much detail of the aircraft.
With that I gently hobbled back down the hill, and after a quick trip to the chip shop we had tea back at theirs again, followed by the customary slide show.
