Not so Silly ...
... Saturday.
As I sat inside this morning working on yesterday's pictures I heard the unmistakable (and sad) sound of a bird hitting our window. I immediately went out to look and found this poor American Robin fledge laying on the ground. I went back in the house to find Richard so that he could find a box to place him/her in and then went back out to watch over him/her. I picked him/her up as I waited for Richard to come out with a box. The poor dear was panting and I feared the worse.
We placed him/her in the box and put it in the shade to watch it for a while. I kept checking on him/her and I thought they were going to be okay as at one point they perked up a bit. But, sadly, shortly after I took this photo ... and as I stroked his/her back ... he/she died in my hands.
When Richard returned from some shopping he buried him/her in our backyard. It was the right thing to do. I'm always saddened by these occurrences as I feel to blame in a way. And I wish I could have done more to save him/her. You know how much I love all my wildlife ... including all the birds. Please have a look full screen.
