I had volunteered to help out with the Friends of Loch Arthur at a local garden which was open for the day under Scotland’s Gardens Scheme. 60% of the proceeds were going to Loch Arthur. The garden, at Dalswinton Mill, is at the home of Colin Crosbie, retired head gardener at RHS Wisley. There were also stalls set up by four amazing nurseries, and talks by experts on gardening subjects. Not surprisingly, then, the opening was very busy. Here’s a link to the garden https://scotlandsgardens.org/dalswinton-mill-garden-opening-and-mini-plant-fair/

Sarah and I were on the tea stall - I was serving tea and coffee and Sarah was taking the money. After three hours, we were relieved from our duty and could look around and buy some plants. I bought an echinacea and a sangusorba, and some allium bulbs - the alliums today were alive with bees and butterflies and I had my first sighting of a Small Comma.

Back home, I finished off the mowing I had started yesterday and we managed another meal cooked out in the woods before the rain arrived at about 7.30pm.

Some extras of the garden.
