Seeing Beyond Looking

Seeing Beauty

Since our temperatures are rising every day, I thought it a great idea to set off early along the lake to seek out the beauty of the area. I left home at 7:30 am and took the train to the nearby village of Cully.

Cully is a village is a charming picturesque village situated on
the shores of Lake Léman in the Lavaux region of Switzerland. It's known for its terraced vineyards, historic architecture, and the annual Cully Jazz Festival.

All the photos I took would have been best since in large, but I'm running out of extras.

After a lovely long walk along the lake, a green-tea sipped in a lakeside café, I sat on a bench in the shade to contemplate the vineyards and the lake when the heat started to feel oppressive. My plan was to return by steamboat and there was one stopping here in the late morning!

The main photo is the return journey boat ride overlooking lakeside villages and the beautiful vineyards.  I never tire of this scene.

Extras:
- A graceful sailing boat passing by

From upper left to right:
- My steamboat coming in
- View from the lakeside and my shady bench
- A father and his two very young children going off for a ride on the water and proud mum taking a picture of them from the shore
- The deck on the boat where I stood, and sometimes sat on our return journey to Lausanne-Ouchy.

I didn't do the August Break today as the prompt was the word: 'trash' which is American English for the British 'rubbish'. It wasn't something I cared to photograph, so today I have gone my own way.

Each day that passes is hotter than the one before. In some parts of Switzerland (including Geneva), it's 37 degrees today. Here in the Lausanne area it's a 'modest' 32 degrees, but we're headed for 34° anytime soon.

Going out in the middle of the day feels horrible and my evening walks will have to be curtailed with the accumulation of the heat on the macadam.
