Shackles
A day largely spent travelling from Lichinga to Maputo where I’ll stay for the next ten days or so. The journey was smooth, which is not something to be taken for granted with domestic flights in Mozambique.
In the middle of the park on Lichinga’s central roundabout is a mural depicting some chapters of Mozambique’s modern history. Here the removal of the shackles of Portuguese colonial rule, the alignment with the communist bloc of nations, the sending of personnel to countries such as Cuba for professional training, and their return to boost the country’s development.
