Sunday In The Park With A Brassed Off Owl
Today was the usual Sunday food shop which was supposed to be followed by our customary pint at The Horseshoes but, quelle horreur, when we arrived it was closed due to "unforeseen circumstances".
Therefore, we somewhat disconsolately had to retrace our steps back through town and head to The Pippin for our refreshment needs. Our moods weren't particularly improved either when we got home as the weather then took a turn for the worse with heavy cloud cover and blustery showers so the possibility of a blank blip day appeared to on the cards.
However, my brother then remembered that today was the start of the free Bandstand Concerts in Brenchley Gardens in town (produced by Kent Arts & Wellbeing on behalf of Maidstone Borough Council) which are to run every Sunday at 3 pm for the next two months. Thankfully the weather was much improved later in the day so we decided we should head back into town to listen to some music and try and get our images for the day.
Today's music was performed by a local brass band called Marconi Brass and what a glorious stirring sound they produced. By this point the sun had returned and we felt very privileged to be standing listening to such wonderful music.
I couldn't quite get the angles I wanted to capture the band themselves so I decided my shot would be of the audience but it still needed something else which is when a noticed the rather despondent appearing owl (one of several carved sculptures dotted around the park) looking in the opposite direction and apparently not particularly enamoured of the music either!
