Checking Directions
Well what a smashing morning! The Manorlands Hospice team were route checking for their annual sponsored walk around our local area and I tagged along today for a four mile section close to home. Thankfully, the heat did not really impact until the last mile or so and there were several sections en route where we were under the trees.
I have to be reminded how fortunate we are for walks around us with such varied terrain and this walk was no exception. One problem is that, because we are all so familiar with the walks, we tend to chat away and forget that we are meant to be checking the map and instructions to ensure they can be followed by folks from out of the area! Anne was looking to shorten the fifteen mile route by a mile and a bit and, at the same time, take out a busy road section and that worked very well (and saved Tony and I having to clear a little used footpath).
My blip is of Anne, Yvonne and Blipper AuntieP consulting the directions at a sharp right turn.
Back at the cricket ground we retired in the hot sunshine to partake of iced lattes and for me a toasted teacake (inevitably!).
