Perchcrow in Wordsworth’s Garden Cockermouth

This morning was a flurry of last minute arrangements to view those houses I mentioned yesterday. We saw one this afternoon and we’ve one to see tomorrow morning.

We wanted to like this afternoon’s house. In the end it was too small downstairs as was the garden. It had great kerb appeal and was very pleasant upstairs. We were the first to view, by 5.00pm it had sold to a cash buyer.

We managed to squeeze in a visit to the garden at Wordsworth’s childhood home. It’s a much larger space than we’d remembered it and has some lovely tranquil spaces within it, not to mention several fruit trees especially a local apple. The garden will repay visits in the future.

Tomorrow’s house is a 4 bed property in need of renovation. It’s proving to be popular with all the visits taking place next Monday. As we’re not here then the agent let us have a viewing tomorrow.

This evening we went to Buttermere for a swim. By the time we arrived a chill breeze was blowing off the lake and the place I’d chosen was too rocky and shallow. In the end I chickened out without going over my knees. Lady Findhorm would not have been such a whimp.
