Heatwave...
This morning I heard, and then saw, a small group of swifts over the garden. Most of them had left here by the end of July this year; this group is late in setting off on its southwards migration. Perhaps they're late fledglings. I hope they'll make it.
No grandkids today, so I continued with my work on editing and uploading murals for ArtUK. Today I was finishing off a batch from our visit to Derry in June, and I really enjoyed looking back at the images and remembering the trip.
I did have a luxurious break at midday, driving out to Hathersage for a swim in the outdoor pool. By then the temperature was 31degrees, and it certainly felt like it. The cool water was wonderful.
Later I had a long Facetime chat with Barbara, my old friend in the US who now lives in Seattle. Both of us make an effort not to get overwhelmed in talking about Trump and the continuing authoritarian madness for which he's the figurehead (certainly not the mastermind). We talk about families and friends, about writing projects (hers) and photography ones (mine). But today B was feeling very low about what's happening, and we spent quite a while sharing thoughts on what we've heard and read about in the last few days. There is some comfort in sharing those thoughts.
