This project took me by surprise. It's been invisible beyond the bottom of my might-do-one-day list then suddenly asserted itself two days ago amidst the ruins of the water butt project. I measured up, I enjoyed working out the most economical way to cut what I needed from two sheets of 2440 by 1220 ply (that sounded much better when it was 8 by 4), I took my cutting plan into the woodyard yesterday (since it is at the top of the hill, like the hospital, and I'm all for cycling efficiency), and everything was delivered today, just after the TV installer had left.

This afternoon I tried to work out how the TV worked and was very disappointed that the picture quality was so much worse than in the showroom. Very smeary faces, like someone has whacked the Noise Reduction slider right up. It was better this evening so perhaps that's just games show make-up. Assessment to be continued. Comments and advice welcome.

I'll be taking the soundbar back tomorrow since I have discovered that my antique hi-fi speakers will produce better sound. The shop has agreed I can swap it for the necessary 'DA converter', (a piece of kit I'd never heard of until this morning but when I realised that 'DA' meant 'digital-analogue' I understood slightly better), and a DVD player and still walk out with a bit of change in my pocket.

This evening I found what was left over of my door-oil and started oiling these shelves. That's very satisfying: no extra outlay and it tidies part-used tins stored under the bathroom basin.

No, the Main Project (house) will never, ever be finished. There are many other sub-projects appropriately buried in my subconscious.
