Sandman 42

This evening we went to see the Mighty Tampabay Rays beat the NY Yankees. Always an enjoyable evening.

Perhaps the greatest "closer" in the history of Major League Baseball is the NY Yankees Mariano Rivera. This year he is retiring so he is on a sort of goodbye tour. He is a fierce competitor, but a true professional that is widely admired.

As with many players, he has a "signature" song that plays when he enters the game. His song is "Enter Sandman" by Metallica. It is because you better be scared, the night is over. This is not a sweet lullaby, nor is it my taste in music!

Each Major League town that he visits is giving him not only a nice tribute, but a going away gift as well (trust me, we will be glad to see him go)! Because we are known for our lovely beaches, full of wonderful sand that is often used for sand sculpting, the Rays commissioned a sand art sculpture of Mariano in tribute.

This sand castle is superior to any of my castles this summer!
