Canoeing on the Trent

I met up this morning with two friends in an attempt to have a walk before it got too hot. As we started our walk around Attingham, Kate asked us if we fancied hiring a canoe. The river is really low at the moment and we knew it would be cooler on the river so we gave it a go. Once we'd hit the bank a couple of times, we found our rhythm, overtook the 2 canoes ahead of us and made it the the turnaround point in good time. One the way back, we had a sticky moment where we literally got stuck going over a submerged tree trunk! I thought we were going to need help but Ali managed to wiggle us free without capsizing the boat. It was a lovely experience and I'll definitely do it again. 
Afterwards, we had a below par meal at the Mytton and Mermaid. Mine came with a side of gone off greens and no mushrooms! Surely the waiter should have spotted this if the kitchen staff failed to check.
