Hot ticket
I had a really bad night's sleep, too hot and my leg was bothering me. Listened over and over to last week's 'Newscast' from Edinburgh (kept dozing off) and also the Nicola Sturgeon interview, in preparation.
Didn't swim but did the things I should have done yesterday like make chicken stock and freeze leftovers. I also put away the pile of towels and put past the pile of clothes lying on the floor.
All this meant I had time to speed read the book that had been sent to me for comment and respond before tomorrow's deadline. It was another lovely sunny day so no hardship to stand and wait for a bus into Bristo. Thought about buying food and drink but passed and ended up starting one of the queues for Nicola Sturgeon/Kirsty Wark. Interesting chat with the two guys from Hamburg who are long term 'Friends of the Fringe'.
Being almost first in the queue meant I got a good front row seat in the balcony. It was an interesting hour. It was clear many of the audience were SNP but Kirsty Wark was a tough interviewer but given the coverage over the last few days there were few revelations. It was entertaining though and there was even some humour. I agree 100% with much of what Nicola said esp around the trans rights issue and the attainement gap, though might have helped if she'd spoken to people like me that what causes it is poverty not primarily lack of investment in schools, though I can imagine that was what some heavy weight influencers were promoting. I was encouraged to buy the book and also the novel by Kirsty Wark beside it ion the pile. Having left my bag at home I had to carry it around with me. No brown paper envelope, according to Nicola that was Alex Salmond's forte.
Had a short while resting in the Book Festival grounds before meeting up with renowned blipper Lady Findhorn for a great catch up and coffee and, for me, (not v good) cakes, in Soderberg sitting in the sun. Great craik though I suspect she's not a fan of Nicola! I spotted Judy Murray while I was waiting and also Kirsty Wark who was also in Soderberg with a friend. I resisted the temptation to thrust my copy of ger book in front of her for a signature.
Then in was home on an X62 (no crash this time), a wine and some sewing in the garden and then real food, after a couple o days of snacking.
Tomorrow is another busy day.
