Tomato Sauce
Even giving them away in quantities, we still can't use the tomatoes fast enough, so I made tomato sauce today. I'll freeze the result in serving sizes.
The same combination of ingredients as shown here is also good fresh on pasta which is what I think we'll have tonight.
We had a most pleasant evening with the 'new' neighbors last night. He, Rich, is an artist and worked at U.C. Berkeley overseeing the construction of a new University Art Museum among other things. They were able to keep the old museum which had been deemed unfit for purpose due to its proximity to the Hayward Fault. It has been retrofitted, which destroys the original open design.
The Cal football stadium is ON the Hayward Fault, yet was deemed able to be retrofitted with an athletic training center against one wall and a towering press box blocking the view from the stadium out to the San Francisco Bay. We talked a bit about how the campus keeps expanding into the city. The resulting traffic and construction contributed to our decision to leave the city after 45 years.
I hope in future I can learn more about Rich's art work. Jean said she is a wannabe quilter and she said she's 'watched a lot of You Tube videos', Possible grounds there for shared interest. They moved here in 2020 from Walnut Creek and have been renovating the house across the street which has a micro vineyard in front of it. I saw it when it was on the market and it certainly was in need of renovation. I hope I get a chance to see what they have done with it.
The fact that it has taken us so long to get to know them is another Covid related story....
Another couple of quilt blocks finished today. John woke up this morning saying he thought he needed to consult the doctor about his shoulder. I suggested that he do a few exercises and put ice on it first. He's now out digging in the dirt so I think my advice not to walk around like a bird with a broken wing may have helped....
