On the Beat
I do like to have a supply of rice cakes, not corn cakes or even rice and corn cakes, but pure rice cakes to have with hummus. Tesco sell them and so I jaunted through George Square to the nearest branch in Nicholson Street, suitably early this morning that I wasn’t in the thick of the Fringe scrum.
On the way back I ventured into the gardens for sheer nosiness. One half is completely taken over by eating stalls and bars with no way through to the other half which houses Underbelly’s huge purple inflatable cow tent. It was so suitably early that there were few people about but I heard a lot of laughter coming from the purple tent and quite a parking of prams outside so I presume there was some child friendly entertainment taking place.
I followed in the footsteps of the policemen in my blip to see who they were going to apprehend but they only led me to the portable toilets where one of them stood guard as the other one made use of the facilities. I didn’t check to see if the latter were gender neutral …..
It’s another hot day day although the sun is a bit shy in staying out. I should be looking forward to my TGIF drinks but have been deserted by my neighbours who have had a better offer in the guise of a barbecue with wine at their Sheraton Gym. It’s not a good look to drink on one’s own outside, so instead I will have a wander round the book tent at the Book Festival and hopefully not see anything I have the urge to buy….. and there’s always the chance that I bump into a celebrity.
