Mounties Patrolling the Meadows

The Mounties are here, just over the railings surveying the scene. It’s a while since I have seen any mounted police in the Meadows. In this heat it must be preferable to patrolling on foot.

Not much has been accomplished today. I was in M&S just as the cock crowed stocking up on plums which are fruit of choice at the moment. I met up with a neighbour and my school friend also in early to beat the crowds and we had such an extended chat over coffee that when I emerged into Princes Street, it was a fight to move. I escaped on very busy bus  homeward to sample the delights of my neighbourhood Lidl or more particularly their oatcakes because M&S aren’t apparently into oatcakes at the moment.
That interaction with a hot crowded Edinburgh has sealed my fate leaving me more or less beached on my patio. I would love  to have the energy to go and buy an ice cream, but it would be a scrum to get there and the cones they are selling at the Book Festival cost £4 for one scoop - so it’s a no from me.

I have my book to read and my ‘sock’ to knit, the latter being actually a bunnet in  my endless quest to knit the pefect Fairisle one as in its design and colour without buying yet more wool. I have knitted 3 since I got back from Orkney and am a bit disappointed in them all for different reasons. Maybe the recently started 4th,  will be the one.
