The Waverley at Kyles of Bute

Back blip

Scotland's west coast is broken up by islands and sea lochs.  Today we have travelled to Portavadie, near Tignabruaich in Argyll, for a couple of nights.  My main photo is taken from Tignabruaich as we caught the Waverley sailing past, packed with tourists.

The Waverley is reputed to be the last seagoing paddle steamer in the world and plies routes up and down the coast of the UK, mostly on the Clyde coast.  We were delighted to see her in such a great setting.

We had a lovely meal at the Marina in Portavadie which is on Loch Fyne, and are staying at the Lodge just a short walk from the Marina.  We had a wander around later.  It is all very nice with a spa, and sports centre with pools, and I think we will have a fine time.

My extras show part of the huge number of yachts at anchor at the marina, and I have uploaded a map for those interested.

And a wonderful sunset!
