If you can't beat them...

Fledgling Starling ( Sturnus vulgaris )

Not a lot to comment on for the day.  My usual afternoon/early evening with Kanyl.  As he isn't too good on his legs I gave his lawn a quick cut.  The size of mower grass boxes was made noticeable to me.  I emptied the grass box more times on cutting his small lawn than I do on ours that is three or four times as big.

The blip is a this years starling showing its first adult feathers. The white spots are lost (in both fledglings and adults owning to feather wear).  Until we got a nest this year Starlings were a rare visitor, perhaps a single one two or three times a year.  It is amusing to watch the youngsters learning.  This one has gained the skills to get on to the nuts another one still sits on a nearby perch and tries stretching to reach the nuts, wobbling and nearly overbalancing in the process.
