Garden hoverfly

The garden is busy with insects now that the hemp agrimony, lavender and thistles are all in bloom. I thought this large hoverfly might be the hornet mimic hoverfly that I've blipped before ( Volucella zonaria Stripy fly) but looking at it now, I'm not sure. It was certainly large but there seem to be some other Volucella species that are similar.

Went into town to try and find shoes and accessories for my dress for my niece's wedding in a few weeks. Had a surprisingly successful trip and am pleased with the outfit.
