A day in Salisbury

On the train to meet my friend P and her little dog Stella. She came up on the bus from Bournemouth. It’s a wonderful city to explore - on a hot day it’s nicest to wander by the river. A few steps from the station and you are in Queen Elizabeth Gardens, with benches by the river in the shade. I talked to P about the bad thing that happened yesterday - she’s a good pal, and helped me see it in a better way.  Then across Salisbury water meadows to Harnham and a wander by the river Nadder.  Little Stella had her first paddle in the river - by which I mean she chose to paddle for the first time, she’s had plenty of opportunities before.  Maybe she wanted to cool down. Then she got very excited and zoomed around madly. We sat down frequently, had lots of drinks of water, but it was 29c in the shade. A little wander around the cloisters of the cathedral was nice.  The train for me, and the bus for her, were very hot, particularly on the way home. I try to be zen about it, and relax as far as possible. Maybe it helps a tiny bit.
I’ve included an extra of some fascinating/beautiful/ disgusting yellow fungus on a willow tree we passed.  Both Beinghere and Hyperion have posted such observations recently, so I wanted to add to the collection.
