High Point of the Day
A full on day, starting with a meeting with the RYA development guy. We’re on a hiding to nothing here (we’re after some cash to replace/upgrade the facilities). Even though we host the Newhaven Rowers and their three boats, and the Sea Cadets, and all manner of local skanks, we need to do more to widen community involvement, especially amongst excluded groups and disabled people. We listen glumly with twinkling appreciative faces.
Then off to see if this helicopter flight which I gifted to the SK three years ago will ever happen. Conditions are perfect, which doesn’t stop us getting a text saying there’s a 90 minute delay. Reason: Poor Weather Foreccast. Aye, right. We almost give up, but, but… after an hour it may just be happening. And it did! And it was quite terrific.
So, back to town, quick change, and three shows selected by P and the SK. Though first, a pint in the Pleasance Courtyard. That was the highpoint…The first one was OK I guess, in that it was well delivered but it went nowhere and I was bored out my skull. Then to Summerhall to see a Darkfield thing - I mean hear a Darkfield thing, as it was in the pitch black. It was supposed to be spooky, but the voices just sounded like a couple of pornstars whispering at me. Maybe that’s just me. Then on to something at Surgeon’s Hall, for reasons probably down to scheduling which was supposed to be the story of Buckingham & Nicks. With songs. Lordy, Lordy, please don’t put your daughter on the stage, Mrs Worthington. Or your son. Especially if they’re required to sing. Or act. Chrissakes.
Home, James, and thrash those horses while we're at it!
