Saints Walking Football
Today's the day ...................... to parade
It was the Grand Parade through the streets of Kirkcudbright today - and a perfect, sunny day for it.
I had volunteered to be part of the Saints Walking Football entry - a modest display, but we did have two of our number dressed up as life-size footballs. This is us getting ready before the start of what turned out to be an enormously long parade, representing all the many activities of the town - and with some very creative costumes and floats.
It's a bit of a treat to be the centre of attention for a while and to be on the receiving end of all the smiles and waves of the large crowd that lined the streets. But I have to say that the thing that really put a spring in our step was the fact that the float behind us belonged to the Samba Sisters with their drums and whistles. It's impossible not to move with the beat when they are in action.
Unfortunately, I knew that blipper greengirl would no longer be one of them - but I can report back that they were as wonderful as ever .......................!
