Arrival!

Yippee - we are on holiday! We have returned to our pal's cottage in Wester Ross. We made previous visits here in 2024, 2023, and 2022.

This morning, the four of us treated ourselves to a lie-in, eager to catch up on sleep after last night's fun and games. Then my main duties were to finish my packing and cook shakshouka for brunch. Meanwhile Mr hazelh dashed to the supermarket for last minute supplies for our holiday and loaded the car, and Beth practised her lines as Portia in a forthcoming production of Julius Caesar. Jonah played prompt.

Mr hazelh and I left the city for our trek north at 12:45, soon after Beth and Jonah set out for another day of Fringe fun. Apart from the heat (25 degrees most of the way), it was an easy, comfortable journey. We broke our journey at House of Bruar (as mandated). Here I bought a navy blue cashmere cardigan. We arrived at our destination - and home for the week - just after 18:00. 

I took this photograph while Mr hazelh opened up the house. The bag with my House of Bruar purchase inside is visible through the rear window (and the Champagne in the fridge within 5 minutes of taking this shot!)

Beth and Jonah have sent us several updates throughout the afternoon and evening. It sounds like they are enjoying a wonderful time in Edinburgh (even without us - ha ha ha).

Exercise today: small amount of walking (8,021 steps).
