Celebration

In the morning I attended a civic service at the local synagogue to celebrate the interfaith community in Edinburgh. The Lord Provost was present as was the Chief Imam and other faith leaders, members of the Scottish and UK parliaments, consul generals and so on. The troubles in the Middle East were referenced at the reception afterwards with a wish for peace and the end to violence on all sides.

Then back to deal with some church business and then into NewTown Church on George Street where a school friend was performing arias with three other performers accompanied by a pianist. The concert was superb. I try to go each year and I thought this was the most enjoyable with the voices harmonising beautifully.

A quick dash back home for a delivery arriving, then a shop. In amongst all of this, news came from Philadelphia that the other nephew on my side has just got engaged. Delightful news. We met his fiancée and family in Ediburgh last September.

Unwound a bit in the evening with Joan Hickson’s Miss Marple which we are enjoying. Then preparations for Sunday.

All in all a full and eventful day.
