Buddies

John was watching baseball on television. Spike was keeping him company on the lone chair in Dana and Jim's family room...a chair which he has claimed for his own because he always sits there, so I grabbed yet another picture of the two of them sitting there together. Spike even appeared to be grabbing forty winks. Baseball has that effect on me too....We were there for a family dinner before Will left to drive home to San Diego this morning.

Dana is helping her friend Leigh (the Mexican pottery lady) set up shop at the accordion festival in Cotati today. I'll be interested in her report on what THAT was like. Jim was looking forward to a well deserved day on his own with no plans for anything....

John's shoulder is still painful. He can't lift his upper arm away from his body. When we arrived at Dana and Jim's last night Peter said messed up shoulders must run in the family as he and Dana both were feeling very sore after rock climbing. I didn't enquire further as I was too busy trying to imagine what kind of rock climbing experience our height averse daughter could have had! Will, who is a golfer seems to have avoided the current family ailment. We talked for quite awhile about what his ideal job would be  and he waxed quite eloquent (particularly as he is usually rather taciturn) about the wine industry, how much he knows about it and all the ideas he feels he could implement. His girlfriend has just signed on for a doctorate in psychology in the San Diego area which complicates things....

Our big accomplishment today was to go to the store and stock up on provisions...an increasingly expensive proposition! Not to mention exhausting! There's something about the lighting in the store that makes me start to feel extremely lightheaded after about half an hour, but I must say that early Sunday morning is a good time to go. It isn't crowded and the shelves are well stocked. So were we by the time I bolted from the store with one of two carts full of grocery bags. By the time we had put it all away I was ready for a nap!
