Scarborough castle

Had a trip out to Scarborough to visit the castle. The site is much bigger than it looks from the bottom. The castle has a fantastic position on the top of the cliff. There was lots to see and it was interesting to hear that the grassland at the top is one of the most diverse and important sites managed by English Heritage.

Had a pizza in town and then went to the cinema that time forgot to see Elysium. The tickets had to be bought for cash, the cinema was very reminiscent of those in the early 70s and even had a guy selling ice cream after the adverts with one of the old fashioned usherette trays. I fully expected the national anthem to be played at the end.

Saw a badger running along the road near the house on the way back - a lovely site. Driving the long, windy and rough path down to the house was interesting - particularly with 4 of us in the car.

We'd been putting out peanuts in the garden of the house as we knew it had badger visitors. After several nights of the peanuts disappearing but no sightings, we were woken at 4 am by a badger snaffling the nuts. A fantastic sight.
