Slimy

Whilst clearing out some of the pond this weekend, I saw these strange bits of slime sticking to the underside of the water lilly pads.  Thinking they were some sort of species of leach, I looked it up on Google only to discover that they are great pond snail egg sacs!

Each of the egg sacs contain hundreds of snail eggs, and whilst some look completely see through, others have brown dots which are the baby snails.

I'll keep checking them and post an update...
