Snapdragons
Today's the day ...................... to naturalise
When we bought our present house, the previous owners told us that we would have snapdragons (antirrhinums) in the garden.
Somehow, they had naturalised themselves - and without anyone having to sow seed or look after them in any way, they would just appear every spring. And right enough, they do. They're a lovely vivid red and it's always nice to see them flourishing, especially if the winter has been a harsh one. We never know where one will turn up, but it's always welcome when it does.
The ones above appeared this summer in a small rockery bed at the front of the house. The small daisy-like flowers to the left of them are Erigeron. Now, we've been trying to get them to naturalise themselves in this garden for years - without much success. They never seem to last a winter - we always have to get new plants.
I'm hoping the snapdragons will pass on some tips .......................!
