midwife crisis

By lulubelle

Little Basil loving his new squeaky soft toy and having ‘pup pepperoni’ treat curtesy of, Nina the dog sitter. She’s been great with him.
Zoom call this evening with my Irish boss and colleagues from Private Midwives which was extremely sad. We all learnt last week that we’ve been made redundant, which was a massive shock and very upsetting. Private midwives have had to declare insolvency and the share holders /managers are as distressed as we are . They were without doubt the best employers I ever had for multiple reasons. The ramifications and ripples are massive for us midwives and the women and families who were planning home births with us. I am so sad. I thought I had the perfect part time job to see me into retirement whenever I felt the time was right .
But I do believe one door closes and another opens, so I will let the dust settle and consider life and options .
I do 100 % know that going back into hospital maternity services is not something I want to do again.
In the meantime I have a lot of packing and organising to get on with , we go away in the camper for 2 1/2 weeks tomorrow to Spain and France , very exciting .
