Normal Service has Returned
Sammy the seagull had found a wonderful vantage point on the top of the Duke of Buccleuch’s head this morning. Even at that early hour in the morning the tourists were out and about and he could keep an eye on them, especially the large group waiting at Parliament Square for their tour bus to arrive.
It wasn’t a pleasant morning- a bit chillier than of late with a cloying wet mist over everything. If anything, it was worse down at the beach and I have to say it was warmer in the water than out of it with the north wind intent on making getting dressed a reminder of what winter will be like. The sea was wavy but none of the waves forceful enough to push anyone over. We four BlueTits present had a great session of bouncing and jumping them as they came in
It was one of those traffic payback days for all the recent fortunate commutes I’ve had. Yet again Portobello High Street is dug up with single lane traffic and 4 way traffic signals. It took over an hour of bus travel to reach home. There is no easy alternative (the train from Brunstane to Waverley is not a viable alternative) and a car would also be caught in the tail back which stretched this morning from Portobello Town Hall back to Morton Street. Hey ho, at least I don’t have deadlines to meet.
I sat a very long time in an exceptionally busy Söderberg to recover my good humour and then walked over the Meadows to the Marchmont Hardware store to buy a packet of seeds for a birthday present- don’t ask!
There is no sitting on the patio this afternoon nor is there much sitting out on the Meadows either. It feels much more like a Scottish summer today- breezy and sunless.
