If You Go Down to the Woods Today
No Teddy Bears .... but there be Dragons!
Another of the Tracksider dragons, this one on a footpath just below the railway above Abergynolwyn. This one links into the Ivor The Engine stories that some of us remember from childhood, animated by Peter Firman and Oliver Postgate. Idris was a dragon who took up residence in Ivor's firebox. We found him on our dog walk this morning. I had a 745 start at work to receive a delivery. C met me there and we walked after I had sorted the delivery. When we got back, two other deliveries arrived and I was soon busy again.
It was the busiest day that I have been in charge in the kitchen, three morning trains carrying more passengers than all six trains carried yesterday. I found a gear I didn't know I had (!) and between us we kept up .... just about. Seeing a backlog of washing up building and all three of us fully employed preparing and serving food, I asked a young volunteer - enjoying her day off - to help. It was Young Member Group day today, with most roles on the railway filled from the 18-25s so thios seemed an appropriate arm twist! Later a Tracksider mum came and stayed helping us for a couple of hours which got us back on track. As so often in life it's not what you know but who you know - these friends made a big difference today :-)
Home by six for a light tea before singing. Having left Meg at home for so long today, I took her with me and she had a sociable evening, plenty of fuss from the singers. It was a good rehearsal for the weekend and then we sang a selection of mostly 'new' songs which was lots of fun.
Another 745 start tomorrow.
