Cathedrals and Flaming Chorizo
High: 35.0 °C
We travelled to León. The intense heat made sightseeing a little more effortful, but the city’s architecture made it worthwhile. The Gothic cathedral was especially striking in the bright light, with the large “LEÓN” sculpture in front of it making an ideal foreground for photos. Later we visited the Convento de San Marcos (now the Parador de León), another impressive convent-to-hotel conversion with a long Plateresque façade set in a large open square. Flaming chorizo tapas were a food highlight, and we took the bus tour for a welcome rest from walking amongst the tourist crowds.
