Prior's Gate
I've never known this as Prior's Gate - and indeed there haven't been priors at English Cathedrals, if my history serves, since the Dissolution of the Monasteries. I've also never seen these gates, but apparently the 15th Century wooden gates were taken down a week or so ago to be given some TLC at a specialist workshop.
However, none of that's really relevant, except that they remain part of Winchester Cathedral's boundary, so this seemed a good one for BobsBlips WidWed challenge today. The shot was taken from just outside the cathedral grounds and looking through the arch the building on the right used to be the Bishop's court.
I had thought to do a completely different scene for the challenge, but as the sun's only just come out I kind of missed my chance. Another day perhaps.
Not a lot else to report, just general faffing. Thanks to Bob for hosting today. And have a good evening, all xx
