The proof of the pudding ...
… will be in the eating. This is the batter for a batch of Yorkshire puddings, which will be going in my new oven shortly. Hopefully the result will be better than I achieved in the old oven, which had started to give wildly differing results.
It’s not been a good day on the appliance front. I put a load into my 12-year old washing machine this morning, and within minutes it was showing an error message telling me that the auto detergent dispensing drum was faulty. It helpfully told me that I could still use the machine by putting detergent in manually, but failed to allow for the fact that I was unable to turn off the auto dosing control, so I most definitely couldn’t use it.
I removed the unwashed, but wet, load from the machine and took it round to a friend, who kindly put it in her machine for me. I rang the service department, who told me that their agent would ring to make an appointment for an engineer to come. (I’ve asked for the auto dispensing unit, which is housed in a cupboard next to the washing machine, to be removed because there’s nothing wrong with the washing machine itself.)
So far, four hours later, I’ve heard nothing.
