Colchicum macrophyllum
These autumn flowering bulbs are a welcome splash of new colour in my little garden. This species has both large corms and very large leaves, hence the specific name, macrophyllum. The leaves don't appear until spring.
Another very early start, another busy day at Aber Cafe, although not as intensely so as yesterday thankfully. I was booked to work until 3 when M came to take over. The sunset special this evening was the most heavily booked one so far and having struggled to get all the pre-booked baked potato meals out quickly last week, I offered to come back to help out for a little while. In the end it was a somewhat bigger while, I couldn't walk away without helping make a start on the clearing up after the crowd had gone. I think everyone enjoyed their evening even though the popularity of the 'Spud Train' stretched our tiny kitchen .... probably beyond it's limits. Hopefully we can build on this success next year but also tweak the concept to make it more manageable.
Birmingham and back tomorrow to pick Ruth up.
