As a thank you for our contributions for their wedding S&N had bought both sets of parents a voucher for an Afternoon Tea at a hotel that we could both reach in a reasonable time; Nuthurst Grange.
Logistics including house moves and our busy diary mean that it's taken most of a year to get together.
Prior to the Tea we met up at nearby NT property Packwood House. We'd forgotten that we'd been here before - indeed, it's where we broke the journey to that wedding. We'd not looked inside the house on that occasion but corrected that today.
The house dates from the 1500's but most of it is 'fake' Tudor implemented by a later owner wanting to 'restore' the original feel of the house, removing a lot of the intervening Georgian and Victorian modifications. So, ostensibly similar windows could be 1525 or 1925.
The 'Tudor Great Hall' at the far end of the (fake) Long Gallery in the extra, was actually a Tudor cow shed, now with a real 1620's table.
Meanwhile, none of us are planning to eat anything for the next 24 hours...
