A day that had everything
Today we took a boat trip to Muckross House outside Killarney. It was actually a really lovely trip even though I am not fond of boat rides. Our skipper shared a lot of interesting things about what we saw from the boat. Additionally, he stopped at a small island, Innisfallen Island, famous for its old monastery ruin. But the most interesting thing there was the deer. I saw deer with spots there recently on blip, which I had never seen before. Not until today, Japanese sika deer that had been introduced. They were so cute, like Bambi from the animated movie.
Extras: Upon arriving at Muckross House, which is mostly known for Queen Victoria having spent two nights there with her husband Prince Albert.
A fun detail in the house was that in the kitchen there was an old ice cream machine. It was Swedish, from Huskvarna.
The sunken garden was also beautiful. The gardener was about to mow the grass down there and was struggling with the lawnmower in the stairs down to the sunken garden and I offered my help, but he declined.
We continued on to Cork and the Jameson Midleton distillery where we took a tour of the old distillery. The old distillery consisted of many beautiful buildings. The new one looks like any ugly factory. It was really interesting, even though I do not like whiskey. We also got to try whiskey and I must say that I probably will not become a whiskey drinker.
