Appreciation

I visited the International Photography Exhibition in Great King Street today. I really enjoyed the 3 exhibitions but questioned the selections. It's on till Sunday.

A conversation with one of the stewards suggested that the selectors (of which they were happy to own up to being) tried to offer a great variety of genres. I disagreed to an extent, I felt there were too many images depicting women in a state of undress, glamorous women, and women who didn't need to be naked to enhance the image.

I then visited Sian Harvie's exhibition, 'The Garden' at the Stills gallery. Again, nakedness was prevalent. I'm clearly gardening wrong.

I came out of the exhibitions with my eyes wide open. I noticed possible images, I was inspired. Yet despite all the possibilities the festival offered, added to that the sea of AC/DC fans that had arrived, my eye was drawn to this woman. So tall, so sure of her presence, and for me, so oblivious of all that was going on around her.
