Flying and Flown

I was going to run with the extra today, but in the end the background won out.

Today we drove Charlie up to Kemble to catch the train to Oxford, where her long time bestie now lives. Having done so, we headed off to Cotswold Airport for coffee at AV8 (having missed the blip meet there only yesterday!)

Sat there having coffee we realised one of our near neighbours had taken the next table, and we laughed at the coincidence and chatted about village life and parish politics.

All of a sudden, someone came over and cried out - "so you're a Charfield Councillor!" and proceeded to tell me why the village "wasn't like it was in her day...", with numerous examples of the 'good old days'.

We smiled and nodded, because captive audience as we were, what were the alternatives. Everything changes, yeah, and we just hope everything will be alright... (good article; probably preaching to the converted but well written)

Back home, another coffee in the garden, I watched a migrant hawker and went for the camera. Of course it had gone, but this common darter took its place, and I really liked the backdrop of bokeh'd shrubs and pond marginals.

The main demoted to extra is a now grounded English Electric Canberra, with its oddly offset cockpit. I gather it's Friday... Have a great weekend!
