Not A Bad Spot…
…to eat our picnic lunch today.
Yesterday we drove up to Bowes in Co Durham..and are staying in a small pub/hotel called The Ancient Unicorn! We stopped in Richmond on the way for a walk to Easby Abbey.
Today after breakfast we popped in to Barnard Castle (not for an eye test) to collect lunch items.
Then we drove up through Teesdale to Eggleston Hall and gardens…some amazing butterflies..they were huge..and you could hear them flap as they flew about (extra 1) and we visited an ancient chapel (extra 2). There was also an Angel Of The North (extra 3)..there was so much fruit on their trees.
Then up to Bowlees visitor centre from where we walked to High Force (main blip) for our lunch. On the way we stopped at Low Force (extra 4) and another waterfall (extra 5). At one point there appeared to be a dinosaur in distress in the water (extra 6).
Walked over 4 miles between the waterfalls..(2+ miles each way) and have clocked 15k steps today. So many photos, couldn’t decide on just one!
There maybe a few ‘Black Sheep’ beers with my name on waiting when the bar opens…
