Flooded by Photos

I thought I was pretty much done with scanning photos for my mother’s memory book. But some years were missing, and I knew that my parents had both taken lots of pictures, so I thought I needed to look for more photos, as I drove to my mother’s house today for the visit of her care consultant.

After the meeting, I looked into a closet where the missing photos might be. And found them. About 300 envelopes full, plus a few albums.

My project just became a lot more ambitious. About half of the envelopes have no dates or information on them. Some are full of pictures of people and places I have never seen before, and there’s nobody left who can remember who and where they are. And there’s also nobody left after me who might be interested in them at all.

I guess that I am - eventually - going to throw away most of them. For now, I am keeping the ones that make sense to me, and discard the rest (which is about half).
