After a very sound night's sleep I was just drinking a coffee when I saw the cruise ship nosing up the Forth - iPad in hand was the only way to grab a shot. Her engines are amazingly quiet for such a huge thing (3,500 passengers I think someone said) and her wake also looks quite modest. She'll park up by the Forth Bridge and then the tendering of passengers to and from Hawes Pier will start. This means only one boatload of visitors to the island today, and having to start and return to Port Edgar. I got the Belle back with Vikki, who kindly gave me a lift up to the station. Ended up getting the bus again, though - trains having some unspecified problem. Strange to get off in Princes St amongst the seething hordes, having come from such a peaceful place. Quite a few AC-DC folk still ambling about.
Yesterday's guillemot chick didn't survive the night, I'm afraid. Small consolation, but fading away in a corner under the jetty presumably less painful than being pecked to death out on the water (as it surely would have been).
