Golden-ringed Dragonfly at Loch Thom

It's rare to come away from Loch Thom in Muirshiel Country Park in the hills behind Greenock without some acceptable photographs, and today was no exception. I had to choose my blip form a number of landscapes and macros that I took. This is my favourite animal - a Golden-ringed Dragonfly (Cordulegaster boltonii). It's one of the largest of the species seen in the UK, and I think its colours are lovely. I also like the way that the lensing effect of the water droplets enhances the individual facets of the compound eyes. This is a focus stack of 3 images.
