Now, as I see it......

Motorway Services: A303 style

After a decent night's sleep last night we set off fairly early down to Cornwall.  We had plenty of time so I took the more scenic route down through Devizes to the A303 despite the SatNav trying desperately to get me to take the M4 and M5 which would have been horrendous on the Saturday of a Bank Holiday.  I thought of stopping for a look at the Caen Hill flight of locks on the canal in Devizes which I often see blipped by local blippers, but the route I took didn't go past them and I didn't want to detour too far in case the traffic was bad later (which it largely wasn't).

Once on the A303 we were ready for a comfort break when we spotted these 'services' in a field by the side of the road.  Apparently it is run by local people to raise money for the upkeep of their churches; I've added more details in the extra.  They had coffee, cakes, biscuits, bacon sandwiches, burgers and more on sale and I have to confess I succumbed to a bacon butty.  What a great idea and profitable too; apparently they raise around £4,000 every year by doing this.

Now in Bude in Cornwall in our accommodation for the week.  A very nice bungalow; well presented and a very attractive garden around 20 minutes walk from the centre.  I don't think we'll explore the town today though; that can be tomorrow's adventure.
