Impromptu

Well, today didn’t quite go to plan. After our copious meal yesterday evening, we went to bed, only for me to have a very disturbed night due to repeatedly getting up to use the loo. I lost count of how many times. By 4 a.m. I had abandoned thoughts of getting up at 7 a.m. to have breakfast and walk up to the Port de Martorat for the annual trobada (meeting of groups from the French and Spanish sides of the frontier). So I waved S off and tried to sleep through the sounds of walkers getting up for 7:30 breakfast and clomping in and out of the refuge. In the end I got up, had breakfast of coffee and a biscuit, and then had a little nap.

I felt better after that, and had a restful morning reading my book, before a very light lunch of cheese on toast. It was a lovely day, so I walked down to the river for my customary butterfly hunt. I saw six or seven species (didn’t count them) and then spent an enjoyable 15 minutes stalking this tiger moth. I was pleased to get this shot, with an attractive background, and the extra shows the underside after some contortion on my part.

The others got back around 3:30 and then we all had a lazy afternoon, before aperos in the apartment and dinner in the restaurant. I was as abstemious as I could be given the hearty options on the menu, and am hoping for a more restful night. Bona nit, as they say in Catalunya!
