FOR THE 2-WHEEL LOVERS IN BLIPVILLE
It's Motorhead Sunday and today's offering is a 1971 Triumph Tiger 650..lightly modified to mimic 60s look.

I noticed this beauty at a cycle show recently and it caught my eye. I never rode a Tiger but I have spent some time on a 650 Bonne and a few rides on my late father-in-law's '49 TR5....he called them all Bloke Cycles. The Bonne was one of the best handling bikes I ever rode. I traded it in on a Norton Atlas 750 which also filled my soul. I should have kept both those bikes...today's prices for well kept 60s-70s era bikes would have made them a worthwhile investment despite the inherent shake of the vertical twin and the chain oil up my pants leg. Too late smart!

The Bloke Cycles were followed by a TX750 Yamaha with electric start....I got tired of kicking the others. It turned out that the Yamaha starter Bendix kept jamming and never worked very well. So I spent most of my time kicking the bike anyway.

Then, in 1977, I discovered BMW. A friend who gets a new bike every year (just because he can) was selling a '76 R90/6 dirt cheap....a GOOD electric start and shaft drive...no more chain oil up the pants leg. First time I enjoyed "getting the shaft." I rode that bike for 32 years until the mechanical clutch started to bother the arthritis in my clutch wrist.

Then I met a guy at Road America who wanted a "winter" project and desired to turn my bike into a cafe racer. He offered me $400 more than I paid for the bike originally. SOLD!

Then I found a 2004 R1150RT with a hydraulic clutch. Easy on the wrist. I rode him for another dozen years until two months ago when, on the advice of my cardiologist, I decided to hang it up after 68 years and 300,000 miles of riding. It was a sad day.

BEST IN LARGE.
