First day in Bude
We had a fairly leisurely start to the day and then walked into town to explore. Bude centre is about a 20 minute walk along firstly a short woodland path which could be quite muddy if it rained, and then across a golf course. Fine during the day but could be a bit dark after the sun has set, and as the reason we are here is for a Jazz Festival later in the week, we are likely to be out until late (for us). The alternative walk by road doesn't look much further though; we'll try it out tomorrow.
We weren't dressed for a beach day but checked out both of the local beaches. They were busy but quite large, so people weren't really on top of each other. I might save my sunbathing for Greece next year though. There was a well attended open day at the local Fire Station which had to be briefly interrupted when a genuine call needed attention. We were ready for a cold drink and sit down and saw we were next to the local Heritage Centre/Museum which had a cafe so headed for that. After a light lunch we looked around the Centre which had some interesting exhibits including some photos of this old bridge from the 19th Century when it looked remarkably similar apart from the fact that the far left span had not been repaired with a modern concrete block.
Now back at the bungalow. The cooking facilities are adequate but not conducive to any fancy cooking so we've just got a roast on the go. Sorry I've not had time to comment over the last few days; I'll do what I can tomorrow.
