Let's go Crabbing

Backblip time for yesterday!

Some friends and I met up and travelled down to Broadstairs in Kent for a super day out.  Each year we choose a seaside destination to visit and take a day trip together, and arrange it when we can.  This year's was meant to be Margate, but we stopped off at Broadstairs first and will go to Margate another time!

I have only been here once before and not for very long!  We spent a good time there wandering about.  The beach was busy (it was 20 degrees and a bit blustery), with lots of people sunbathing and some swimming.  Apparently the water was also 20 degrees, but I really don't believe that!

We took a walk from Viking Bay, along the cliff promenade to St. Mary's Bay, which is near where Extra 2 was taken - there were some impressive wave splashes splooshing about.  We then wandered back along the front, to find Let's Go Crabbing (main blip!).  We tried out the arcade, where my friends played Guitar Hero and Dance Dance Revolution, whilst I took photographs of shiny and sad things, including Minnie Mouse's last day (extra 1).

It was then time for lunch, so we visited a pub for some local fish.  My friend loved the crab burger, and my Dover Sole with lemon , broccoli and Spanish pepper sauce was fresh and delicious. The market was visited, then the funfair, we took a ride on the dodgems and all managed to crash into each other a good number of times - even backwards!

A local band were playing in the bandstand so we had a jolly time listening to them.  A few inebriated people danced.  Then it was time for some crazy golf, in a very well-planted and tended to garden of hosta, canna, dahlias, sunflowers, azure blue lobelia, white lobelia, fuchsia... it was glorious!

Looking out over the bay, the clouds had rolled in a little and people were packing up to go home (extra 3). We stopped for a bubble tea on the way back to the station, and stayed until the shop shut!  Then it was time for the walk back up to the station and home, noting all the names of the shops on the way.

Our train got stuck on the way back, a train going the other way had found some tree debris on the line, and our train driver may have had to help the other train driver clear the debris - but the first train driver got it all sorted, thankfully.

What a lovely and tiring, but really great day!
